With the constantly changing landscape of the COVID-19 pandemic, the immediate future of high school athletics is up in the air. With the governor’s recommendation that schools be closed until April 13th, that date is the earliest athletics could resume. PCM activities director Greg Bonnett says that at PCM, they’re planning to resume things on that date, but that they have to be ready to change plans.
“With this epidemic changing so fast, what might be true today, what could me the process moving forward today, can easily change tomorrow. We’re just being patient. Right now, we’re planning on coming back on April 13th. But if that changes, our plan has to be fluid too, we have to be able to roll with the changes, just stick together, be proactive about whatever might come. I have not heard anything that I might be able to tell you that would be changing for the spring sports, come April 13th.”
Bonnett also noted that no decision has been made concerning the structure of the season, if and when it resumes, though several ideas have been tossed around. If the season resumes April 13th, the golf, track and soccer teams would all be set to compete on the 13th and 14th.
