The Pleasantville Girls Track and Field team had been preparing for a promising season. A large number of returning talent had Head Coach Aaron Fichter confident in what his team could accomplish. Now with the season suspended due to COVID-19 concerns, time is dwindling down to prepare for the upcoming season if it resumes. He says one of the things he normally does is analyze the schedule and determine how he will place events in particular meets and how they will best compete as a team. With the uncertainty in the schedule, he says he will gladly take any meet they can get, even if it is a very abbreviated schedule.
“The whole fact that we might not have a season just puts that all into perspective. Even if we just had districts, even if we just had to train and show up to the district meet and see if we can qualify some things, I’ll take that. I obviously never would’ve thought that would’ve happened, but that’s where we’re at. So hopefully we have a chance, and then we can be at Drake Stadium, maybe in May.”
No decisions have been made as far as the structure of the spring sports season if it resumes. As of now, school is set to resume on Monday, April 13th, a date that has been tossed around as potentially the starting date for spring sports. As with everything during these times, that date is highly subject to change.
