The PCM girls golf team is currently stuck at home like every other high school sports team in the state. While they had been gearing up for a promising season, the pandemic has put everything on hold, at least for joint team activities. Head Coach Tony Ford says that while it’s unfortunate that sports are not happening, the communities have continued to show support and that everyone is feeling the same way.
“I think every school and every student-athlete are just trying to find their way through this, and given the situation, it’s unfortunate. But I think that the schools and the communities have done a good job to do the best they can, and to recognize these athletes and for everyone to stay safe. We’re all in this together, and I don’t think anyone is taking that for granted.”
The good news about most spring sports is that they are mostly individual competitions. With many area golf courses still open, it allows the golfers to get some practice time in while still social distancing themselves. If the season resumes as currently scheduled, PCM would have their first action on Monday, May 4th at Knoxville.
