With hospitals in Marion County preparing for potential COVID-19 patients, the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics is doing their part to treat as many current and future patients as possible virtually, to help prevent spreading the disease.

Public Relations Director at the hospital, Kevin Stittsworth tells KNIA/KRLS News the hospital has a new virtual visit program that is online at the hospitals website and is called Mobile Express Care. He says people can download the mobile app Zoom on their mobile device and then use the program to be seen by their doctor from the comfort of their own home and avoid any potential spreading of COVID-19.

Clinic Director Holly Shinn tells KNIA/KRLS News the virtual program is something the hospital has been working on for quite some time but now because of the current COVID-19 situation they are prepared to offer it to patients. Shinn says the program was first tested on hospital staff and their families but now, given the current situation, it will work great to help people during this social distancing time. The program has already been used over the past few weeks to meet with an array of different patients all while staying socially distant and safe.
