The Pleasantville football team has their work cut out for them in 2020. When district play rolls around, they’ll face three of the teams they’ve faced the previous district cycle. Two newcomers to the district, Mount Ayr and Central Decatur, were playoff qualifiers last season. District champion Pella Christian returns to the slate as well, and Head Coach Mack Jorth says that while his team is up to the task, there will be no easy games on this schedule.
“You look at these six teams, and they’re all very solid football programs. So it’s going to be a very interesting race, it’ll be a tough task, and it always go through Pella Christian as they are a very good football program. But adding Central Decatur and Mount Ayr as playoff qualifiers last year are two very solid football teams as well, so it’s going to be a very interesting battle. We all have somewhere in the 20s-30s returning 10-12th graders, so it’s a very competitive district with a challenge every week.”
Along with Pella Christian, Mount Ayr and Central Decatur, Pleasantville will face Colfax-Mingo and Interstate 35 in Class 1A District 7.
