As families in Knoxville pickup student meals today at the Knoxville High School during the designated 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. pick up times, families are reminded there will be no pickup on Friday. Instead the district will include meals for today and Friday in today’s pickup. According to the district, Friday is a paid vacation day for staff and meal distribution will resume regular Monday through Friday pickup next week.

In addition to today’s meal pickup, the Knoxville Noon Kiwanis will host an Easter Egg Event in conjunction with the meal pickup. The event is designed to give families the same amount of eggs and candy they would normally receive at the traditional Easter egg hunt. The hope is that families can hold their own personal hunt while continuing to practice social distancing and post pictures of their hunt on social media. Curt Schwanebeck with the Noon Kiwanis tells KNIA/KRLS News he hopes to see participation throughout the community.  He says he would like to see the evidence that people held their own hunt and had a good family time. Schwanebeck says the Noon Kiwanis just want to help bring a little hope to the community in these dark times.
