When the 2020 high school football season rolls around, PCM will have a lot to look forward to. With a solid group of returning talent, the Mustangs have aspirations to compete among the best in the state again in Class 2A. One opponent in particular stands out – the Knoxville Panthers. It’s a local series that hasn’t been played since 2013, but Head Coach Greg Bonnett looks forward to playing their neighbors to the south, and hopes it’s a series that will flourish once again.
“I’m really excited about playing Knoxville. I know they’ve got some guys back, I know they’re doing some good things over there, they caught momentum last year. I’m hoping that we can keep this game going forward. They’re only 14 miles away, they’re a 3A school, they’re always going to be a good opponent for us. They got some good things going on there, so we’re excited about playing those guys.”
The teams met every year from 1996 through 2013, with each team winning 10 times. This year’s matchup will conclude non-district play on Friday, September 18th in Monroe.
