With the spring sports season canceled at Simpson College, the Simpson softball squad is keeping the news in perspective, but that doesn’t mean it was easy to accept. Head coach Brent Matthias tells KNIA Sports when he received the news from the American Rivers Conference Presidents that there would be no season, relaying that to the players was one of the most difficult things he has done.

“I know we just play softball, and it is just a game to keep things in perspective. But breaking that news to them, i’ve had some family tragedies, and i’ve had to talk to players about a family loss, and this was right up there. I know some people might not understand, but because we worked so hard and we had some goals, and to tell them all of their hard work wasn’t even going to get a chance to shine, that was really tough.”

The Storm graduated three seniors from this year’s team.
