During these times of uncertainty, student-athletes across the state and country are finding themselves in a state of limbo. While it’s hard to tell whether or not they will be playing sports this summer, many are focusing on what they can do to make themselves better for the potential season. Pleasantville baseball coach Sheldon Card says that right now, the things they learn on the field can and should help them off the field.
“You preach what you preach in the dugout and take care of what you can take care of right now, and what is that? That’s what I do today and that’s what I’m going to do tomorrow. I think our whole world needs to do that, because it is a grind right now, staying home all the time and not being able to do what we normally do. But the only thing we can control is what we do today, and what our attitude and mindset is. Hopefully our athletes and students here at Pleasantville are doing the same.”
If the season resumes on June 1st, Pleasantville would miss only four games, and would open the season on June 2nd at home against Earlham.
