While there have been multiple athletes from the Tulip City who have chosen to stay in their hometown to compete in college, the Class of 2020 has one of the largest groups to do so in quite some time.


The following Pella and Pella Christian athletes have publicly announced their intention to compete for Central College (with interview below):

John Oltman, Pella – Men’s Basketball, Golf

Josh Van Gorp, Pella Christian – Men’s Basketball

Chloe Morgan, Pella Christian – Softball

Elsie Thoreson, Pella – Women’s Track and Field

Caroline McMartin, Pella – Women’s Cross Country, Track and Field

Ellie Roorda, Pella – Women’s Cross Country, Track and Field

Several local high school athletes from the Dutch and Eagles have yet to commit or announce their intent to play at the next level, and the list of the local flavor may yet grow before graduation.
