With the cancellation of spring sports, the senior athletes lost not only their final seasons, but also senior night. The PCM Girls Track and Field team had been hoping for one of the best seasons in program history, and only were able to spend three weeks of practice together. Head Coach Eric Karr reached out to track and field icon Mike Jay to see if he could offer his perspective on the matter, and he was able to join in the team’s planned senior night video chat and provide a lasting memory.

“We were getting ready to do a senior only Zoom after the official announcement had been made. And I was just thinking, ‘What can we do to truly make this special?’ I just remember so many of the girls, at the beginning of the season saying, ‘I just can’t wait to hear Mike Jay say my name at state, I can’t wait to hear him say my name at Drake.’ So I reached out to him, and he was more than happy to join us. His perspective, I think, the girls really needed to hear as seniors. I can’t imagine being a senior right now.”

10 seniors will depart the PCM Girls Track and Field program.
