The Pella City Council set a public hearing for the Pella Municipal Airport Rehabilitation project at their meeting Tuesday. The $1.422 million project will be funded by the FAA Airport Improvement Program. City Administrator Mike Nardini says the rehabilitation now qualifies under the CARES Act, so the FAA will likely fund 100% of the project with no local match. A public hearing to award a contract will be held on May 19th with notice to proceed on June 1st. The Pella Municipal Airport may experience extended closures of up to 60 days during the rehabilitation project, which should be complete by November.
