The hope for a softball season at Twin Cedars this summer is high due to a lot of expectations of a great season. After last summer’s 29-9 campaign that netted the Sabers a conference title and breaking several records, Coach Zack Dunkin says the largely young team is ready to take the next step.
Dunkin :
“Clearly a lot of potential in those younger grades, we lost a senior from last year, from a leadership standpoint that’s important, but clearly from a numbers perspective the kids coming up I think we’ll be able fill those roles with the younger kids.”
By the end of the season, six of the nine starting positions were either an eighth grader or freshman. The pitching staff was also manned by two freshmen, who had a combined 144 strikeouts against just 61 walks. Twin Cedars is scheduled to start the season June first with a double header against Davis County.
