With the Simpson Women’s basketball 2020 recruiting class mostly filled out at this time of the year, the months of April and May are generally spent pitching to current high school juniors who will make a decision over the next year. Assistant coach Moran Lonning tells KNIA Sports she is trying some non-traditional methods to stay connected while everything is closed.

“I think the best part of recruiting is being in person, especially with my high-energy I like to be in person with recruits, but that obviously can’t happen right now. So I’ve been trying to call recruits a lot, and it’s kind of fun because they don’t have much going on so they answer their phones, so I’ve been chatting a lot over the phone over the last several weeks. And I’ve even writing letters, because I think it would be fun to get some snail mail while everyone is at home.”

Lonning also said some of the lessons learned now might become applicable in the future, so hopefully we all take something positive away from this.
