Every track and field athlete has a goal of making the state meet to run on Drake’s Blue Oval. Some if they are talented enough, have a goal of making it all four years of their high school career. The current high school athletes freshman-senior lost out on that chance to pull off the four straight years at state feat when the spring sports season got cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Knoxville’s Abbey Jackson, while injured last year, made the state meet in an event but wanted more. This spring she set out to make state in an individual event and even medal. However she tells KRLS Sports that dream will never come true.

Jackson:
“I thought it would be cook to say I went to state all four years of my high school career, I guess I made it three year and I made to state but didn’t do as well as I should have, and I just wanted to make it this year so I could place better than I could.”

Listen for more from Jackson along with Faith Hatch as our Spring Sports Spotlights start today on 92.1 KRLS.
