The loss of the 2020 soccer season had several missed opportunities for a Pella Christian senior. Annika Terpstra describes losing the final chance to suit up for the maroon and gold as losing a “dream season,” for many reasons — including the loss of playing time with younger sister Joslyn, and the chance to finish playing the sport she loved in high school on her terms.
“It’s kind of hard to describe, just because soccer has been such a huge part of my life since I was really little,” she says. “So, there’s definitely a lot of heartbreak and unexplainable things, but I’ve been trying to find the best in that’s God’s plan…but it was definitely very confusing and hard to hear, because I’ve been dreaming of this season for a really long time.”
Annika says she’s thankful for the chance to have played three years, especially with Head Coach Mike Buchheit reviving the program, but that she’ll miss being a part of the Eagles soccer team the most from her days at Pella Christian.
