With currently no high school sports to talk about, it gives us a chance to take a look back at some recent history for area teams. Last year on May 10th, the Pleasantville girls track and field team traveled to State Center for the district meet and qualified five events to the state track and field meet.
The team of Sayde Mull, Jordan Dursky, Sam Entinger, Kennedy Pelzer, Taryn Brent and Evie Marchant qualified in the shuttle hurdle relay, placing second with a time of 1:15.00. Entiner and Dursky, joined by Emille Smith, Rae Speicher, Amy Kish and Kasey Pelzer also qualified in the 4×100 meter relay, placing second with a time of 51.80. Individually, Kasey Pelzer qualified in both the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.15, and long jump, with a leap of 16-10.50.
Later it was announced that the Trojan 4×200 meter relay team of Speicher, Kish, Entinger, Smith, Kasey Pelzer and Sydney Chamberlain received an at-large bid to the state meet with their third place finish.
Three school records were broken that night, including Pelzer’s long jump, the 4×100 and 4×200.
Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS over the coming weeks for more historical moments for area spring sports programs.
