The Iowa Legislature will reconvene on June 3rd. State senator Julian Garrett tells KNIA News the budget will be the main focus for both the Senate and the House of Representatives, but the decision will be helped along after the recommendations come back from the revenue estimating conference.
“That is a group that estimates state revenues for the coming fiscal year. Over the years we base our budgets on their estimates. We all recognize this time it will be very very difficult for them to come up with an estimate because we are in uncharted territory, we really don’t know what the revenues are going to be like. We don’t know what the economy is going to be like over the coming year.
Garrett also said he will recommend the budget be as conservative as possible, because there are so many unknowns.
