State Representative Dustin Hite says when lawmakers return to the state capitol in Des Moines on June 3rd, the focus will likely be narrow and the session could wrap up quickly.
Hite says bills surrounding COVID-19 relief efforts and relating to budget items for the coming fiscal year, will swallow up the majority of time spent for the remainder of this timeline. While Hite won’t rule out work on other bills, he says it’s critical to ensure the budget is balanced–whatever that may look like due to a sharp decline in state revenue.
Hite is nearing the end of his first term in the Iowa Legislature, and is running unopposed in the 2020 election in Iowa House District 79.
