The Pleasantville baseball team finished 18-17 overall in 2019. The conference mark of 13-8 was good enough for a fifth place finish in the school’s first year in the West Central Activities Conference. The Trojans stumbled to a rather slow start, but won four of their final six games. After an 11-1 win over Colfax-Mingo to begin postseason play, Pleasantville bowed out in the quarterfinals with a 10-5 loss to Woodward-Granger.

A large group of seven seniors departed last year’s program, and with them departed quite a bit of the offensive talent. Three of the top four batters depart, but Wyatt Clark returns for his senior campaign after batting .330 last season.

The top two pitchers are gone from last season, but Aaron Wilkins is back for his junior season as the returner with the most pitching experience. He started six games last year with an ERA of 3.78, gave up 31 hits and 16 walks while recording 41 strikeouts. Junior Austin McMillan and sophomore Jake DeJoode will likely join in on the starting rotation this year after getting some spot starts last season.

The fate of the season is currently uncertain, but Pleasantville’s first scheduled game after the June 1st deadline is June 2nd against Earlham.
