For nearly six years, construction crews have been working along the Red Rock Dam on a project that will generate enough electricity to power every home in Marion County.

Now, that massive effort is nearing the finish line, as Vern Cochran with Missouri River Energy Services says the Red Rock Hydroelectric Project will be substantially completed late this summer.

Cochran says power will soon be generated from one of the main turbines, with several tests coming up in the next few months to make sure the power plant is operational. Cochran appreciates the support of the community, especially in dealing with closures and delays on T-15 over the dam and to nearby recreation areas, all of which will end as soon as construction is completed, likely in late August, barring no major equipment issues or significant weather or flooding delays.
