The cancellation of the high school spring sports season affected the student-athletes and the coaches alike. For one area coach, it was the loss of his first season at the helm of his program. Pleasantville guidance counselor Chuck Sinclair was getting set to coach the boys golf team, and says it was a disappointment that he didn’t get that opportunity.
“I took the job in November, right after volleyball season. I was really super excited for a chance to work with the boys as their golf coach. We did quite a bit in the offseason to secure new golf bags, new golf balls and made out practice plans. It was quite a bit of a disappointment that we didn’t get a chance to do anything with spring golf this year.”
Sinclair was a long-time volleyball coach at Pleasantville, and this was to be his first time coaching a spring sport. He’ll wait until next year to begin his tenure, and he’ll have a lot of returning talent on next year’s roster.
