With the lack of travel due to social distancing and recommendations from the Iowa Department of Public Health and the CDC, calls are down for the Indianola Police Department. Police Captain Brian Sher tells KNIA News the department has had a large amount of cooperation with the community during the pandemic.
“In addition to all calls being down, officer initiated stops are down, the traffic stops are down. And that’s fine as an administration right now, we get it. Stop the ones that need stopping, warn the ones that need a warning, some of the other ones that might not need stopping aren’t getting stopped right now, to lessen the exposure. But if a car needs to get stopped, it’s going to get stopped.”
Captain Sher also said there was a slight rise in domestic disturbances, which was most likely due to the fact of everyone spending more time at home.
