After over two months, five transports by ambulance, two medically airlifted flights, a second brain surgery, tracheotomy, gastrostomy, 38 days in a pediatric hospital, 50 days in a pediatric inpatient rehabilitation center–all during a global pandemic and quarantined away from family, Braelyn Ussery returned to Knoxville Friday.
Led by local first responders and received home by family and friends lining the streets with signs and waves and a few tears, Knoxville once again showed their support for Ussery after she developed a growth on her brain, the second since 2013. Ussery will now stay at home with her family while she continues her long journey of rehabilitation.
