With practice starting today, head coach of the Indianola softball team Stacy Evans thinks that proper planning ahead and communication from the girls and boys Iowa high school sports unions made the possibility of the season a reality. Evans tells KNIA Sports both the unions and the Indianola High School administration are prepared for the changes.
“I want to applaud the unions for this, they met with the Department of Health and Governor Reynolds. The trickle-down effect is making sure our administration is aware and giving it the final say on if we can participate. They said if this is too much for a school to handle safely, they are not obligated to have a season. But because they had those initial meetings the information is clear on how we are going to travel on a bus, how our field is going to look, how we are taking measures to clean everything, all of it.”
Evans also said her girls are ready for the season, and are coming in with a great mindset and effort.
