Budget work is expected to begin next week for the Iowa Legislature, and they will take the rest of this week to consider any bills that were still active when the legislature went in recess due to the COVID-19 pandemic. State Senator Julian Garrett tells KNIA News he can’t speak for other legislators, but there were several items he was actively working on that could come up.
“We’ll be taking a look at all the bills that were pending when we recessed in spring. So i’ve been looking at them to see which ones I’d like to try to push to get passed, and I’m sure other legislators are doing the same thing. I don’t know how many we will be able to get done, I’m assuming this will be a very short session here.”
The legislature is scheduled to work on the other items not budget related this week, then begin budget work next week.
