Construction is underway for the fiber optic network that will support the City of Pella’s Municipal Telecommunications Utility.

City Administrator Mike Nardini says the project is on track now for completion by Spring 2021 — and additional steps were taken at the most recent Pella City Council meeting to continue that progress.

Council set a public hearing for July 7th to consider a contract to connect homes and businesses through service lines to the main outside plant of the fiber optic network. Nardini says council also put final approval on financing for the construction of fiber and the new facility that will house the Pella Fiber utility, as well as two memorandums of understanding with the Pella School District and Central College to host dedicated channels for both schools.
