Pella Christian High School will be recognizing their future Hall of Fame basketball coach after he retired following the 2020 season.

Larry Hessing will be greeting individuals at an Open House Saturday, June 20 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in the school commons on Eagle Lane. The public is invited to attend as PCHS celebrates Larry’s retirement following 27 years of teaching and coaching. Hessing says he’s thankful for the opportunities and special moments he had in over two and a half decades leading the program.

Hessing finishes with a career record of 456-188 while coaching Pella Christian and 650 career wins overall in 39 years in high school basketball. Larry guided Pella Christian to 12 state tournament appearances (including 2020) — 4th all-time among Iowa High School Coaches, and his 16 tournament wins ranked 8th most ever among all head coaches coming into the 2020 state tournament.
