The Central softball team has released its team awards for the 2020 season. Junior shortstop Daria Parchert has been named the team’s defensive player of the year.

Parchert has been a prominent fixture throughout her Dutch softball career, starting all but 11 games since she arrived in 2018.

This season, while shortened, was statistically impressive. Parchert racked up a perfect fielding percentage of .1000 over the seven-game campaign. She had a remarkable season at the plate, with a batting average of .429 and a three-hit performance in what ended up being the season finale in Tucson, Ariz. at the NFCA Leadoff Classic.

Parchert will return to next year’s Central team after a 6-1 campaign this season.
