While the pitching position for the Melcher-Dallas Softball Squad is new this season, nearly the rest of the squad is back from last summer. Seven of the nine starters return from a team that went 27-6 and reached the class 1A regional finals last year. Coach Jim Crozier is happy to have that many starters back, but he wants the girls to know that none of their positions are guaranteed.

Crozier:
“Those positions I always tell the kids are not guaranteed because they have to work for them, so they’re still working for their position but we’ve got some good girls and positions coming back from last year.”

The Saints will start the season off on Tuesday against Lamoni.
