With a new starting pitcher, the Melcher-Dallas Softball Squad is looking to score a few more runs than last season. In 2019, the Saints were able to put up over eight runs per game. Coach Jim Crozier tells KNIA Sports freshman pitcher BrieAnna Remster will be a very good one this season but the team will need to help her out by scoring runs.
Crozier:
“We’re going to expect a lot from them this year. We’re going to have to score more runs. With a freshman pitcher, BrieAnna will be a very good pitcher for Melcher-Dallas, but she’s a freshman and it’s going to be different being a varsity starter. So we’re going to have to hit the ball well.”
Last season the Saints pitching staff compiled an ERA of 1.22. The Saints will open up Tuesday against Lamoni.
