The Pleasantville baseball team had a tough test to open the season, a road trip to defending Class 2A state champion Van Meter Monday evening. The Trojans held their own for a good portion of the game, but the Bulldogs proved to be too much to handle in a 6-1 loss. Van Meter steadily built their lead throughout the first four innings. Pleasantville could not muster up a run before the fourth, but was able to keep Van Meter off the board in the final two innings.
On the softball diamond, Pleasantville was unable to keep up with defending conference champion Van Meter, as the Bulldogs rolled to a 13-1 win. Both the Trojan baseball and softball teams fall to 0-1 on the season. They’ll both step out of conference play this evening, with a road trip to Sigourney. Both games are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Sigourney High School.
