The Pella Christian softball team returns to conference play Monday evening after a 6-3 loss to Knoxville to end last week. The Eagles welcome Indianola to Eagle Lane for a doubleheader to begin the second week of the season. The task does not get any easier for Pella Christian, as the Indians boast the #7 ranking in Class 5A, and are 4-0 to start the season. Head Coach Karen Harrill says that while Indianola will pose a major challenge, she remains confident in her team’s ability to generate runs, as long as they continue to make solid contact.

“Indianola is a good team. They were great last year, and they had most of their kids return, so they’re going to be even better this year. We’re just going to have to be ready. One thing I like about fast pitching is you don’t have to hit it hard, and it goes a long way. We just have to continue working on hitting through the ball, hitting line drives, and if we can continue to do that, you keep the bat on the ball correctly and it goes a long way.”

Both games of Monday’s doubleheader will be broadcast live on 92.1 KRLS, with Jon Mohwinkle calling the action. Pregame coverage begins at 5:15 p.m. from Pella Christian High School.
