The Red Rock Rivalry hits the softball diamond tonight as Knoxville hosts Pella in a non-conference contest. The Panthers come in at 3-0 on the season after a win on Friday night in Eddyville that went extra innings. Knoxville’s game last night with Centerville was rained out. The Panthers are getting good pitching from starter Ashlyn Finarty, who is 3-0 on the season and has walked just three batters in three games. With the 3-0 start, Coach Carla Smith has been impressed with her team’s play and the way they have won each of their games.
Smith:
“I can’t say enough about how the girlsgirl are playing, they’re playing with so much determination, they’re having fun and that’s all I can ask for. A 3-0 start and the first three games of my head coaching career, I’m pretty ecstatic about it.”
The Panthers are playing a Pella team that has yet to find the win column in six outings this season, but has won four of the last five against the Panthers and have an 11-4 record against Knoxville since the 2010 season. Listen live tonight on 95.3 KNIA at 6:45pm with the first pitch at 7:00pm.
