The Pleasantville softball and baseball teams traveled to Earlham Monday evening to return to West Central Conference action. The Trojan softball team fell just shy, in a game that saw the Cardinals come from behind for a 3-2 win in 10 innings. Pleasantville tacked on runs in the first and third innings to take a 2-0 lead. But Earlham scored two clutch runs in the sixth to tie it up. Each team would be held scoreless for the next three innings, but Earlham walked it off with a run scored in the bottom of the tenth frame. Pleasantville was led at the plate by Makenzie McGriff with two base hits and an RBI. Pitcher Maddie Orewiler entered the game in the seventh, replacing Faith Vanderhart for the final frames. Pleasantville falls to 2-5 on the season, and returns to action on Wednesday at home against Woodward-Granger, which will be the home opener.
The Trojan baseball team dropped a 3-0 decision in a low-scoring affair. Earlham scored once in the third and twice in the fourth to secure the victory. Pleasantville is now 0-5, and will return to action this evening at Winterset for a non-conference affair.
