The Knoxville Municipal Airport’s runway and taxiways continue to be closed as construction continues on 3,000 feet of the northern part of the runway. The construction also includes the upgrading of all runway and taxiway lights to LEDs. The runway and taxiway construction was originally expected to last until at least July 27th but according to the airport the runway project is ahead of schedule by a couple of weeks due to good weather, and airport staff is hoping to open up possibly as early as mid-July.

The airport remains open to helicopter traffic as the ramp, refueling area, terminal, shop, and remainder of the airport continue to operate. Knoxville Aviation is also continuing to offer aircraft mechanical services in the HyVee hangar in Chariton at Lamoni, and as needed out of their mobile unit.
