The Knoxville Public Library has announced the completion of the new mural in the children’s area at the library. The mural that was created by local artist Kim DeSocio includes images based off of ideas received from library patrons. DeSocio was awarded the first grant for Public Art at the library by the Knoxville Heritage Community Foundation earlier this year and was the original artist who painted the mural at the library in 2006. She received input from the community and began putting those ideas together as she began work. Residents can view photos of the mural by going to kniakrls.com and clicking on this story or see the mural in person by visiting the library’s children’s area on the second floor of the library.
