The Pleasantville softball team entered the 2020 season with high expectations, as well as a ranking in Class 2A. Coming into the season, the Trojans knew they’d need to groom new pitching talent after the graduation of Abby DeJoode. Junior Faith Vanderhart got the call this year as the number one starter, and saw improvement after a rather slow start.
Vanderhart finished with a 5-6 record in 10 starts and 15 appearances. In 57 ⅓ innings pitched, she gave up 89 hits and 33 walks while striking out 41 batters. She had an ERA of 5.49 and a WHIP of 2.13.
Senior Maddie Orewiler had six starts in her final year in a Trojan uniform. She pitched 40 productive innings, giving up 57 hits and 15 walks with 19 strikeouts.
Vanderhart will enter next season as the likely number one pitcher. Adi Adreon also saw brief action this season, and could help the Trojans in the circle next season.
Pleasantville finished 7-11 overall and 4-3 in the West Central Conference.
