The Knoxville Municipal Airport has announced the reopening of all runways and taxiways at the airport following construction on 3,000 feet of the northern part of the runway. Director of the Airport, Dan Van Donselaar, tells KNIA/KRLS News there are just a few steps left in the project. He says the construction is about 90% done with only the new LED lighting needing to be finished. He says crews are currently awaiting parts for the lights and until they are received the majority of flights will be conducted during the day.
Van Donselaar says he hopes to have the airport cleaned up and back to normal by the late fall before winter.
