While there was some improvement for the Pella baseball team in the 2020 season, the best may be yet to come with several sophomores and juniors making an impact this summer.
Head Coach Jesse Jablonski says there will be holes to replace after six seniors all contributed a great deal on the field in a variety of roles, and while he will miss them, he is excited for what some of those returning to high school this fall can offer.
Nick DeJong, a senior this fall, was an All-Conference first team honoree as an infielder, hitting .367 with seven extra base hits and 14 RBI. Mason Wittmer, also in the Class of 2021, had 17 Ks in 18.2 innings with a 1.88 ERA, mainly as a top reliever. Jason Knox will be a junior and was .350 from the plate with 15 RBI, and had a 2.26 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 34 innings. Classmate Keagan Miedema had a 2.62 ERA in 21.1 innings with 18 strikeouts.
