For our number seven moment for Twin Cedars, we go back to January 23rd. The Saber Girls Basketball Squad did not often find success last winter, but they were starting to get a reputation of having a good defense that would hold some of the good teams to below their season averages. That night, the Sabers defense was in another dimension as they limited Ankeny Christian to nine points, not in a half, but for the entire game in a 45-9 drubbing. The Sabers outscored the Eagles in the middle two quarters 30-0. The Sabers held Ankeny Christian to ten percent shooting on 4/39 from the field, outrebounded ACA 40-22, and forced 20 Eagle turnovers. Brooke Roby led the Sabers offensively with 16 points while Chloe Swank added ten. The Sabers would go on to finish 5-18.
