Today we continue the top 10 countdown of the top moments of the 2019-20 school year with number two. It was a season with high expectations that had the ball bounce the wrong way for the Simpson men’s basketball team, as they were picked to finish second in the American Rivers Conference and brought back three All-Conference players, but a 4-9 conference record halfway through February had the Storm on the outside looking in for the postseason tournament. The Storm had to win their last three games to cement their place, and had to get past #6 Nebraska Wesleyan to do so. Simpson took down Wartburg to start their three-game journey, then settled in to welcome the Prairie Wolves to the Cowles Fieldhouse, who had won 32 of their last 33 conference games. The Storm absolutely dominated Wesleyan from start to finish, holding them to 30% shooting for the contest, building a 10 point lead at the half then continued to pour it on in the second to get the upset win 86-59 leading from start to finish. The Storm won their season finale against Buena Vista to make the tournament, then took down the Beavers again to advance to the conference semifinals where their season ended.
