The Indianola Park Friends held a neighborhood meeting Wednesday afternoon at Buxton Park, presenting a preliminary plan to replace the gazebo. Elodie Opstad with the Indianola Park Friends tells KNIA News the current plan is preliminary and the meeting was held to gain feedback and gauge interest, and what the next steps in the process will be.
“Our next milestone will be to put it before the city council. And hopefully if it’s appropriate, and they feel it’s appropriate, will be to get initial funding for technical drawings, architectural drawings, and enhanced conceptual drawings, so we know how much it will cost and we can begin our fundraising, which we anticipate will take two years. So we aren’t trying to do anything too quickly, and there will be plenty of opportunity for consideration and improvements in anything we are doing, or we don’t move forward at all.”
Opstad also said the goal of the project is to provide an open space pavilion in the park that would provide natural seating, a larger open space that enhances the photographic views of the beautiful gardens in the park, and be able to accommodate more people.
