A strong cold front is pushing through the state today, and chances are increased for severe thunderstorms.
A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect for Marion and Warren Counties, and most of central Iowa until 2 p.m.
Scattered strong to severe storms will develop this morning and move east across the state though late afternoon. Damaging thunderstorm winds will be the primary threat, and isolated tornadoes are possible. While widespread heavy rain is not anticipated, a few pockets of precipitation could result in ponding of water, along with brief travel issues.
The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team is on the air live for any severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for any portion of Marion and Warren Counties.
