Following the announcement that this year’s high school football schedule would be reduced to seven games, athletic directors and coaches needed to redo their non-district schedules from four games to two. Some schools kept two of the teams they originally were scheduled to play, while others made were completely different. PCM kept both Newton and Pella Christian on their schedule, but swapped locations. Activities Director and Head Football Coach Greg Bonnett says it took some strategy to craft the schedule in a short amount of time, but is happy with how it turned out.

“AD’s and football coaches were just calling each other saying ‘Hey, do you want to play?’ You had to try to get one home and one away. So it was kind of a game of chess and wait and see until Monday, but I was pretty happy with the way our games turned out. I would have really liked to have played Knoxville, but it just didn’t work out. We ended up getting Newton at home in the first game and Pella Christian there in the second game, so I kept two of the four teams that were on my non-district schedule anyway. I’m very happy with the way it worked out for us, but for a while it was a wheeling and dealing type of mess.”

PCM hosts Newton in Week 1 and heads to Pella Christian Week 2. All PCM games this season will be broadcast on either the KRLS3 stream or 92.1 KRLS.
