The Knoxville School Board approved the district’s Return to Learn Plans at its meeting Monday night. The district has plans for the district as a whole, each school building, and a Return to Activities plan. Superintendent Cassi Pearson says that these plans, including the use of masks, will always be subject to the latest information.
“We will continue to monitor the information and the new research. That could continue to change throughout the course of the year. If we get lucky and don’t have a lot of positive cases and Marion County masks up, and we control the virus and the spread of the virus to a very high extent, it’s possible that down the road, we might be able to relax our mask requirement for students and staff. But at this point in time, that’s not possible. We really want to make sure that we’re taking every precaution that we can. And until we get kids in school and we try some of this, we aren’t going to know exactly where we’re going to be sitting.”
