The Knoxville Volleyball Squad will have plenty of senior leadership this season as six 12th graders in this year’s program. After losing arguably the greatest athlete to ever play sports at Knoxville in Katie Keitges, Coach Mollie Keitges tells KRLS Sports the seniors have been playing on the varsity level for their entire high school careers, and she says it is starting to show.

Keitges:
“We have six seniors with a whole bunch of experience coming back. So this senior class has been playing varsity since they were freshmen. So they’ve been playing quite a while and their experience is showing in practice, and that may be a strength is how much experience we’ll have on any given night.”

Katie Keitges’ contributions to the Panthers last season going 25-8 did not go unnoticed as Knoxville will have to replace 352 kills and 315 digs. The Panthers will likely have six seniors on the floor at one time as Marley McKay at setter, Maggie Wilkins at back row, Tara Uitermarkt at middle hitter, Reilly Finarty at outside hitter, Amy Sullivan at outside hitter, and Alyssa Vaske at defensive specialist all return with a wealth of experience. Knoxville is set to get its season underway at a triangular at Oskaloosa on August 24th.
