Without the ability to have shows and with other gatherings limited, the Pella Opera House has been impacted hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Director Cyndi Atkins says the majority of their shows since March have been cancelled, with the remainder postponed until a later date.

Atkins says their membership drive is starting a bit earlier, with the goal of garnering support now to make sure programming is robust when the Pella Opera House is able to return to more normal functions.

“The Pella Opera House is a non-profit organization and we have had members ever since we were founded back in 1990 when we reopened after being closed for a number of years,” she says. “Our members are such tremendous assets to the Opera House and our memberships help to provide the funding that we need to continue bringing live performances and free tours to the public here at the Opera House. We are so excited to have the support of the community.”
