As a new Pleasantville senior class prepares for the school year, some think of what the Class of 2020 could have been for the Trojans. After strong seasons in football, volleyball, cross country and basketball, the Seniors were preparing for what looked like a dominant track and field season in the Spring. Unfortunately, it wasn’t meant to be as their seasons were cancelled.

Activities Director Joel Allman believes that what the outgoing seniors experienced was perhaps the weirdest set of circumstances in Pleasantville history, but also feels that their legacy won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Their performances during the Fall and Winter seasons got them pumped for the Spring, and Allman feels for his students lack of being able to show it on the field.

“I know this Class of 2020 was very excited for track. We had an unbelievable track team coming back, especially Senior-wise and our boys’ track was going to be fairly strong or at least much improved this upcoming season. That obviously led into our baseball/softball that this Class of 2020, with all that they had to deal with at the end here, they’re going to be building up a little bit of resiliency. Things didn’t turn out the way they exactly wanted to, but they just had to work through it and I think they’re making the best of the situation.”

Whatever momentum the Trojan Class of 2020 had going into the Spring, the Class of 2021 is undoubtedly determined to carry that momentum right away, starting with the Fall 2020 season.
