After communications with the Iowa Department of Public Health were interrupted by the recent wind storm that passed through the area, the City of Indianola has announced 24 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the area since the last update on August 11th, with 14 new cases within city limits and 11 not within city limits but inside the Indianola Fire District, bringing a total of 211 cases to affect the city since the pandemic began.

Warren County has crossed the 600 case mark to affect the area, with a growth of 17 cases since the update on August 14th for a total of 603. Warren County has seen a slight decrease in active cases as well, going from 190 on August 14th to 182, with a total of 421 recoveries.

The most recent Marion County Situation Report shows a significant growth of 26 cases since the August 13th update with 237 overall, and active cases up 20 from 23 to 43. Marion County saw a growth of 94 cases in the month of July, and has seen a growth of 71 just over halfway through August.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has set a 15% positive test rate as a metric that might indicate schools should move to remote learning. Currently Warren County sits at 4.7% while Marion County is at 7.5%, with four counties above the threshold including Lucas County to the south.
